~Mode
characteristic of the electromagnetic field distribution corresponding to the angle of wave propagation in the waveguide. In case of fibers we talk about fiber optic modes. Mods are the result of mutual interference of flat electromagnetic waves reflecting several times from the edge centers forming waveguide.
~Multimode fiber
Multimode fiber - sent many modes of different lengths. Different angles of reflection result in blurred edges of the transmitted signal which contributes to the distortion of the output pulse.
