~Optical fiber

Optical fiber is a waveguide transmitting electromagnetic waves. Therefore, synonymous with the term "fiber" is "optical waveguide." Optical fibers are used as components of optoelectronic devices, optical components integrated systems, media signals over long distances, as well as for lighting purposes. Fiber can be classified by their geometry (planar, strip or fiber), the structure of modes (single mode, multimode), the distribution of refractive index (jumping and gradient) and the type of material used (glass, plastic, solid-state).

~Optical fiber cable

cable comprising one or more conductive glass fiber light pulses.
In telecommunications generally uses infrared light. Cable composed of glass fibers are resistant to electromagnetic interference and have a large capacity. Using them, you can achieve transfer rates up to 100 Gb/s (about 12.5 GB/s), the fastest fiber optic systems can cause signal of several Tb/s. Optical fibers are generally coated with a polymer. This is the so-called primary coating, fiber protection against environmental influences.

~OTDR measurement

Optical measurement is performed by reflectometer. This test is designed to measure the attentuation of swiching cables.
